The Risk of Orbital Debris

Orbital Debris is the Leading threat to spacecraft, satellites, and astronauts. Collisions with debris can cause anything from minor damage to catastrophic failures. Traveling at average speeds of 10 km/s (22,000 mph), even a 1-centimeter paint fleck can cause as much damage as a 250kg object hitting the Earth at 100km/h. A 10-centimeter projectile would have an impact equivalent to 7kg of TNT.

Collisions with high-speed orbital debris present a severe risk to space missions and assets. To mitigate this threat, Aphelion Industries shielding has been developed to protect crucial spacecraft, components and personnel.

Our team is working to develop advanced materials and protective shielding configurations to ensure the safety of astronauts and equipment.
